February 14th is celebrated as “National Donor Day” in the United States. This doesn’t mean we all give up a kidney today (though it could!) but it does give us a great opportunity to raise awareness of all those in serious need of organ transplants because their organs have either failed or been seriously damaged. On a day in which romantic love is normally celebrated, there couldn’t be a better sacrifice of true (selfless) love than to be a living donor. Of course, adding that sticker to the back of your ID can help change someone’s life too! I also know many people who donate blood regularly—THANK YOU! You all are so appreciated.
